POPE JOHN PAUL II: To claim the right to abortion, infanticide and euthanasia, and to recognize that right in law, means to attribute to human freedom a perverse and evil significance: that of an absolute power over others and against others. This is the death of true freedom.

EXCERPT AMERICAN CATHOLIC: Cardinal: Obama is 'Aggressive, Disruptive and Apocalyptic'

"Because man is a sacred element of secular life," Stafford remarked, "man should not be held to a supreme power of state, and a person's life cannot ultimately be controlled by government."

"For the next few years, Gethsemane will not be marginal. We will know that garden," Stafford said, comparing America's future with Obama as president to Jesus' agony in the garden. "On November 4, 2008, America suffered a cultural earthquake."

Cardinal Stafford said Catholics must deal with the "hot, angry tears of betrayal" by beginning a new sentiment where one is "with Jesus, sick because of love."

VIA Frank Rega: Socialism at the gates

The November 2008 issue of Christian Order reproduces the text of the truly prophetic anti-West anti-socialism speech given by Alexander Solzhenitsyn at the Harvard Commencement of 1978. Besides warning about the dangers of Western flirtation with socialism (imminent now), he points out the spiritual bankruptcy of both systems (although the people of the East are generally far stronger spiritually). His description of the tactics of the Western media dovetails perfectly with what our media did to Sarah Palin 40 yrs. later. The article is not online at Christian Order, but here is a link to the full text and also audio of the speech: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/alexandersolzhenitsynharvard.htm

4. He who has become aware of his sins has controlled his tongue, but a talkative person has not yet come to know himself as he should.
