Poll: Independents Backing Pro-Life Republican Candidates
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new poll for Politico conducted by George Washington University finds independents backing pro-life Republicans in what could become an election landslide next week.

The polling firm says Republicans are on the verge of broad wins next week for one big reason: independent voters. The voters are expressing deep dissatisfaction with Obama s policies and performance and ready to boot Democrats from office.

Ed Goes and Celinda Lake, a Republican and Democratic pollsters respectively, conducted the nonpartisan poll that is already receiving significant attention today in political circles.

Republicans hold a 14-point edge among independents and lead 47-42 percent among all voters when it comes to them saying which party s candidates they plan to support for the House and Senate next Tuesday. The GOP lead expands to 12 percent among those voters most likely to vote.

The poll also found movement towards the Republican direction.

The bipartisan survey showed a 43-43 split on the generic ballot around Labor Day and 29 percent of independent voters said they backed leaned towards Republican candidates. That rose to 38 percent in September and is now 44 percent. Full story at LifeNews.com

MSNBC Program Exploits Killing of Abortionist George Tiller to Attack Pro-Lifers
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- MSNBC plans to air a program tonight exploiting last year s shooting death of late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller to suggest a pro-life conspiracy was behind his murder.

Although the killing involved a lone gunman with no ties to the pro-life community, the MSNBC program will examine whether there were larger forces behind abortion doctor s murder.

Rachel Maddow, the pro-abortion activist who hosts a weeknight political program on MSNBC s television network is the documentary s co-creator and narrator.

The Assassination of Dr. Tiller will detail events leading to the crime, which saw Scott Roeder, a militia enthusiast and loner who had no official connections with any pro-life organizations, shoot and kill the Kansas-based abortion practitioner.

Roeder admitted that he shot Tiller because he was not satisfied with the pace of prosecution Tiller for violations of state abortion laws. At the time he shot the late-term abortion practitioner, the state medical board was potentially close to revoking his medical license. Full story at LifeNews.com

Federal Judge Allows Congressman to Shut Down Pro-Life Group s Election Effort
Columbus, OH (LifeNews.com) -- A federal judge has issued a ruling essentially allowing a pro-life Democratic congressman to shut down a pro-life group s election effort.

The Susan B. Anthony List purchased a set of billboards in southwest Ohio to notify voters that Congressman Steven Driehaus voted for taxpayer funding of abortions under the ObamaCare bill.

Driehaus filed a criminal complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission saying that billboards the SBA List intended to purchase saying he voted for taxpayer funding of abortions was inaccurate.

If the Ohio agency sides with Driehaus, as initially appears to be the case, the agency could fine the organization or hold its president or staff accountable for supposedly breaking a state campaign finance law against misleading voters and punish SBA List officials with jail time.

SBA responded to the complaint with a lawsuit filed with a U.S. District Court asking U.S. District Judge Timothy Black to strike down the election law on which Driehaus based his complain. Judge Black, who supports abortion, rejected its request to issue a temporary restraining order against the Ohio Elections Commission proceedings. Full story at LifeNews.com

Americans Want Supreme Court to Decide Fate of Pro-Abortion ObamaCare
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The ObamaCare health care reform law that allows abortion funding has drawn three separate lawsuits seeking to overturn it as unconstitutional. That s music to the ears of Americans, as a new poll finds a majority want the Supreme Court to decide its fate.

The survey, conducted by October 10 by Pulse Opinion Research, found 53 percent of those polled want the high court to addressed the questioned raised in the lawsuits.

Most of those (42 percent of all voters) who want the Supreme Court to address the issue say they strongly feel that way while the other 13 percent somewhat support the high court reviewing the cases. Some 31 percent strongly disagree and just 10 percent somewhat disagree.

The suits primarily focus on the individual mandate the forcing of Americans to purchase health insurance and a mandate that would compel them to ultimately pay for abortions.

There is not any language in the law, or an executive order President Barack Obama issued, that contains a blanket ban on taxpayer funding of abortions. Full story at LifeNews.com

UK Nurse on Video Shutting Off Paralyzed Man s Life Support
London, England (LifeNews.com) -- A British nurse working for the government s NHS health care program was caught on a videotape shutting off the life support for a paralyzed man.

Jamie Merrett, a quadriplegic, was being kept alive on a ventilator but was mentally able and was able to talk, use a wheelchair and operate a computer using voice-activated technology.

But nurse Violeta Aylward is shown on camera shutting off the ventilator as Merrett struggle for life for 21 minutes until paramedics could arrive and restart it after Aylward, panicking after she realized what she had done, not knowing how to reconnect it.

According to the London Telegraph, it is not known whether Aylward, who has not commented on the incident to British media, purposefully tried to remove the lie support or accidentally disabled it. Full story at LifeNews.com

Pro-Life Group Wants More Action on Fetal Remains, Records Found in Dumpster
Lansing, MI (LifeNews.com) -- A pro-life group that discovered the bodies of unborn children killed in abortions and patient records outside Lansing and Detroit-area abortion centers is pressing for more action against the abortion centers responsible.

Members of the Citizens for Pro-Life Society organization discovered the allegedly illegal dumping of fetal remains in dumpsters outside the Womans Choice abortion clinics in Lansing and Saginaw.

They also found patient documents including the names of women who obtained abortions at the facilities and bloody instruments.

The group is planning a press conference for Wednesday to call on state legislators and state officials to launch an investigation into the abortion industry in Michigan to probe the problems.

This press conference will reveal through photographs and copies of redacted patient documents, scandalous and unethical practices of the Womans Choice clinics, and the disturbing fact that the clinic knowingly threw aborted fetal remains into the trash, as well records bearing patient names, the group said in a statement. Expert on Forced Abortions in China Condemns Latest Late-Term Abortion
Beijing, China (LifeNews.com) -- The man who uncovered the forced abortion campaign in China decades ago that family planning officials employ in connection with the nation s one-child policy is condemning the latest incident of a woman forced to have a late-term abortion.

The incident caused a stir as the victims spoke out to the media in a television interview that also featured footage of the mother at the hospital where officials subjected her and her baby to the abortion.

Construction worker Luo Yanquan has told media outlets his wife was taken kicking and screaming from their home by more than a dozen officials.

The forced abortion occurred on October 10 and local family planning officials detained the woman in a hospital for three days for the abortion after learning she had violated the Chinese policy against having more than one child.

There, the officials injected the unborn child with a drug that took the baby s life.

Steven W. Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, witnessed scenes of brutality when the one-child policy began 30 years ago. Full story at LifeNews.com

Birmingham, Alabama Abortion Biz Can t Shut Down Pro-Lifers
Birmingham, AL (LifeNews.com) -- A Birmingham, Alabama abortion business failed in its efforts to shut down pro-life advocates attempting to provide women with information about abortion alternatives.
On Friday, Circuit Court Judge Edward Ramsey for the 10th Judicial District of Jefferson County, Alabama issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting members of the group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust and their founder Jeff White from speaking to women outside the New Woman, All Women abortion center.

The judge prohibited them from engaging in prayer, holding signs and oral communication with any other person.

The order was issued without notice to White and others based on allegations that they failed to comply with a decades-old injunction issued by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

However, pro-life attorneys with the Life Legal Defense Foundation tell LifeNews.com there was no failure to comply because the injunction did not apply to White or the members of the group. Full story at LifeNews.com

Pennsylvania: Pro-Life Corbett Leads Onorato by Five Percent
Harrisburg, PA (LifeNews.com) -- Tom Corbett, the pro-life gubernatorial candidate, continues to lead pro-abortion candidate Dan Onorato by five points among Pennsylvania voters.
The lead is smaller than in the last Rasmussen Reports survey, but Corbett is still shown as the favorite and he reaches the 50 percent mark needed to win the election.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in Pennsylvania finds Corbett with 50% support to Onorato s 45%. Two percent prefer another candidate while three percent of voters while three percent are still undecided.

Last week, Corbett led Onorato 54% to 40%, his best showing yet, Rasmussen indicated. In surveys dating back to early February, Corbett has consistently held a double-digit advantage over Onorato, with support ranging from a low of 45% to a high of 54%. In those same surveys, Onorato has earned anywhere from 26% to 45% of the vote. Full story at LifeNews.com

Second Poll: Colorado Personhood Amendment Likely to Lose
Denver, CO (LifeNews.com) -- A second poll shows Amendment 62, the personhood amendment that would ban all abortions in the state if upheld in court, will likely lose when voters head to the polls next week.

SurveyUSA conducted a poll or 540 voters from October 19-21 for the Denver Post and 9-NEWS and the survey has about a 4/2 percent margin of error.

The poll shows just 20 percent of Colorado residents support Amendment 62 while 56 percent say they are opposed to it. Another 25 percent of Colorado voters were still undecided, even as early voting began in the state.

A SurveyUSA poll conducted earlier in the month found 15 percent of Colorado voters planned to support the personhood amendment while 35 percent opposed it. A large 50 percent were undecided at the time. Full story at LifeNews.com

On Abortion and ObamaCare, Life Counts
by Bill Saunders
There are plenty of jokes about the character and quality of politicians, but there is nothing funny about our elected representatives voting to allow abortion to be funded by our tax dollars especially when these politicians claim to be pro-life. This election cycle, Americans United for Life Action (AULA) is holding politicians accountable for their pro-abortion votes.

It is, of course, smart marketing for politicians to say they are pro-life. After all, the majority of Americans are pro-life. And opposing government funding of abortion is a clear winning issue in elections. According to a national poll taken during last year s health care debate, seven out of ten voters are opposed to taxpayer-funded abortion.

Eleven seats targeted by AULA s Life Counts campaign are currently held by Congressmen who voted for the pro-abortion health care reform bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA): Baron Hill (IN-09), Chris Carney (PA-10), John Boccieri (OH-16), Tom Perriello (VA-05), John Spratt (SC-05), Bob Etheridge (NC-02), Paul Kanjorski (PA-11), Alan Grayson (FL-08), Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-03), John Salazar (CO-03), and Joe Donnelly (IN-02).

The twelfth District targeted by AULA, AR-02, is an open seat in which pro-abortion Joyce Elliot is seeking election. Full story at LifeNews.com
