Obama's Pecksniffian Public StatementsJudie Brown

The tragic and disturbing events of the past few weeks have left many wondering about the state of our nation. A madman opens fire on a group of innocent people. Another madman uses a pair of scissors to snuff out the lives of babies. Meanwhile, our president delivers a speech meant to cause reflection and evoke sympathy for the victims of the Arizona shooting spree. But there is no refection or sympathy when babies-or the mothers who bore them-lose their lives. To our president, and to many others, life is only sacred if you are outside the womb. But, to those of us who know and understand, all persons are sacred-and those who are carelessly discarded are to be equally mourned.

Medicaid expands birth control access
Politico
A provision in the federal reform law (PL 111-148) aims to make it easier and faster for states to expand Medicaid coverage for family planning services and contraceptives. In the past, the federal government required states seeking to extend Medicaid coverage for family planning services to lower-income residents with incomes too high to qualify Medicaid to go through a "laborious" application and approval process. Prior to the health reform law, states applying to offer the expanded access could wait up to two years to receive approval from CMS. In addition, states needed to reapply every few years for a waiver to provide the services. As of Nov. 22, 2010, 22 states have received federal approval to expand eligibility for Medicaid family planning services based on income.

Planned Parenthood seeks FBI probe
Dallas News
NEW YORK (AP) - Planned Parenthood, a perennial protest target because of its role in providing abortions, has notified the FBI that at least 12 of its health centers were visited recently by a man purporting to be a sex trafficker but who may instead be part of an attempted ruse to entrap clinic employees. In each case, according to Planned Parenthood, the man sought to speak privately with a clinic employee and then requested information about health services for sex workers, including some who he said were minors and in the U.S. illegally.

Appeals court dismisses stem cell research suit

Mass Device
A federal appeals court upheld a lower court's dismissal of a lawsuit filed on behalf of all frozen human embryos in the U.S. that sought to halt federal funding of research using stem cells derived from the embryos. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled that the plaintiffs in the case, represented by "Mary Scott Doe, a human embryo 'born' in the United States (and subsequently frozen in which state of cryopreservation her life is presently suspended)," do not have standing to assert their constitutional and statutory rights.

The Presence is Real ThumbnailFrom the moment of consecration, Christ is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. We do not see Him as we see other people, but He is there, body, blood, soul and divinity. Even though we cannot see Him, He is always with us in the Blessed Sacrament.
