Poseidon Faith in an Upside-Down World

Today's world is often fraught with confusion. All too frequently we hear how we should do things that make us "feel good" rather than understanding that we should just be doing good-in all places and to everyone. This includes the sick, the elderly, and the preborn. We are all given choices in life. When it is time for us to make those really important decisions, we must look to God for guidance. For, without God, we too will be upside down.

New studies point to clot risk of Bayer's Yasmin

Reuters
Two studies showed that users of pills containing drospirenone, one of the hormones used in Yasmin, had a two to threefold higher risk of venous thromboembolism than did users of those containing the older synthetic hormone levonorgestrel, according to British Medical Association's bmj.com site. In the study cited by bmj.com, based on U.S. medical claims data, researchers found a twofold increased risk of non-fatal venous thromboembolism in women using drospirenone-containing contraceptives compared with women using levonorgestrel. Thromboembolis is the medical term for a blood clot in the veins, often in the legs, that gets dislodged and can cause fatal clogging in the lungs' arteries.
Abortion votes will trail GOP in 2012 campaign

Washington Times

In a year when spending, deficits and debt have dominated the national debate, the recent push to strip Planned Parenthood of government funding is a reminder that the abortion issue retains its political potency. The decades-old battle nearly derailed the latest spending deal on Capitol Hill, and House Republicans say they'll continue to fight federal funding of the group after Congress returns from a two-week break to tackle the nation's borrowing limit, 2012 spending levels and the soaring national debt.

Planned Parenthood dramatically ups lobby tab

Roll Call

Planned Parenthood's federal lobbying bill more than tripled in the first three months of the new Congress, as Republicans targeted the group for funding cuts and transformed it into a political cause célébre. For the first quarter of 2011, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America reported spending $400,000 on federal lobbying, up more than 256 percent from the same quarter just one year ago, when it spent $111,000.
