Company Using Aborted Fetal Cells in Flavors Shields Partners
The company that was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from abortions is now working to hide the names of the corporations it contracts with as a pro-life boycott continues.

LifeNews.com reported on the controversy in March when information came to light showing biotech company Senomyx was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from a line based on cells from a baby victimized by abortion. Senomyx ignored a letter from the pro-life group Children of God for Life, which complained about its practices.

Now, the pro-life group informs Lifenews.com that Senomyx is attempting to hide the names of their corporate partners by removing them from their website.

Public backlash has apparently caused much consternation for the biomedical firm that has ignored consumer complaints and continues to use HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney) cells in the research and development of artificial flavor enhancers, says Debi Vinnedge, executive director of CGL.

The move by Senomyx comes after PepsiCo, one of the biggest corporate partners, ignored pro-life criticism in a canned recent response to customer letters, saying, With respect to the flavor discovery research with Senomyx, we utilize techniques that have been the gold standard for several decades.

If this gold standard is no big deal, then why are they trying so hard to hide the truth? asked Vinnedge. PepsiCo and Senomyx have done everything in their power to trivialize what they are doing, when in fact what they are doing is only further damaging their public image. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/company-using-aborted-fetal-cells-in-flavors-shields-partners/

Pro-Abortion Group: Record Pro-Life Laws Passed in 2011
A national pro-abortion organization that tracks abortion statistics and is a former affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business says 2011 has already set a record for the most number of pro-life laws approved by state legislatures.

Just halfway through the year, pro-life lawmakers have already exponentially increased the number of pro-life laws on the books, according to the Guttmacher Institute, which issued a report decrying the number of laws protecting women and unborn children which will undoubtedly result in reducing abortions in the states where they have been adopted.

In the first six months of 2011, states enacted 162 new provisions related to reproductive health and rights. Fully 49% of these new laws seek to restrict access to abortion services, a sharp increase from 2010, when 26% of new laws restricted abortion. The 80 abortion restrictions enacted this year are more than double the previous record of 34 abortion restrictions enacted in 2005 and more than triple the 23 enacted in 2010. All of these new provisions were enacted in just 19 states, Guttmacher indicates. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/pro-abortion-group-record-pro-life-laws-passed-in-2012/

Abortion Activists Fail to Bring Down California Billboards
Pro-abortion groups in Oakland, California, just can t seem to accept that they ve failed. Despite shamefully biased and blatantly dishonest press from local TV news (CBS-5 and ABC-7) and area newspapers (Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle) none of their absurd cries of racism could remove the Black & Beautiful: TooManyAborted.com billboards.

Contrary to their false claims, the billboards were not removed due to their opposition; they were removed because of expiration. The contract for the billboards (see embedded image) expired on July 10th; so, naturally, the billboards are coming down as new clients and advertising go up. That hasn t stopped groups like Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice (ACRJ) and RH Reality Check (which needs its own reality check) from claiming they brought them down.

They apparently didn t get the memo from CBS Outdoor s Jeff McCuen who stated clearly in an email to ACRJ:

The Radiance ads are within the standards we apply to all submissions, and we would apply those same standards in deciding whether to accept an ad presenting an opposing viewpoint. At the end of the day we have faith in the public s ability to use their judgment with regard to the issues involved in this debate.

I think the word to describe abortion activists incessant dishonesty is: pathological. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/abortion-activists-fail-to-bring-down-california-billboards/

Free Plastic Surgery With Abortion? Gimmick Used in Miami
Abortion businesses in Miami, Florida are reportedly using a new gimmick to lure minority women to abortion centers there to destroy the lives of their unborn children but a leading pregnancy center organization is fighting back to help them.

Margaret Hartshorn, Ph.D., the president of Heartbeat International related the controversial new information in an email LifeNews.com received. She also says the abortion businesses are preying on women without financial means by putting them into high-interest payment plans for the abortions.

Abortionists are now using gimmicks like free plastic surgery with your abortion to seduce women into their clinics, he explains. These predators seek to lure newly immigrated women from Cuba and South America by offering abortions up to 24 weeks for $120.

When a woman comes in for the abortion, she is presented with a payment plan and costly interest rates for a total cost that far exceeds the original price, Hartshorn adds.

The gimmick is similar to one used in Orlando Florida by an abortion business there that took couponing to a new, sick level by offering two coupons related to purchasing abortions. One coupon has the Orlando clinic, one of a chain of abortion centers All Women s operates throughout Florida, giving women a Free Pap Smear with the purchase of an abortion at both the Orlando and Tampa, Florida locations. The offer is not valid without web coupon being presented to receptionist at time of abortion and each abortion patient may only use one coupon meaning the approximately 40 percent of women obtaining repeat abortions may not receive a second free pap smear. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/free-plastic-surgery-with-abortion-gimmick-used-in-miami/

Hearing in October on 107 Charges Against Planned Parenthood
The case with 107 charges against Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri was the subject of a motions hearing today concerning whether or not the public may be allowed to see evidence that Planned Parenthood committed illegal late-term abortions and then manufactured documents to cover up their crimes.

The charges, initially filed by former state attorney general Phill Kline, allege the abortion business potentially engaged in illegal abortions and violated state record-keeping laws. Kline, as the then Johnson County District Attorney, filed 107 charges, including 23 felonies, against the abortion business for allegedly violating state law.

The case has been assigned to Chris McMullin who serves as Asst. Attorney General and Assistant Johnson County District Attorney. After today s hearing, a preliminary hearing on the charges has been set for late October.

Troy Newman, the president of Operation Rescue, one of two Kansas pro-life groups, including Kansans for Life, that have worked on helping advance the case, commented on the latest hearing.

Planned Parenthood had asked that a special computer system be purchased and installed to keep members of the public who might attend the trial from seeing any of the evidence against Planned Parenthood, Newman said. A pro-life supporter who attended today s hearing told Operation Rescue that McMullin argued that all the records have been heavily redacted already in compliance with an order from the Kansas Supreme Court and that there are sufficient safeguards in place to satisfy any remote concerns about patient privacy. The judge denied Planned Parenthood s demand for the new computer system. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/hearing-in-october-on-107-charges-against-planned-parenthood/

Pawlenty Focuses on Pro-Life Issues in Mailer to Iowa Voters
Eager to boost his standing with voters in the Hawkeye State ahead of the important Ames Straw Poll in August, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is sending a new mailer to tens of thousands of homes emphasizing his pro-life views.

Our values are under attack, the mailer says, Tim Pawlenty is fighting back. When it comes to protecting life and our values, Tim Pawlenty is walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Some candidates talk about fighting for our values. Tim Pawlenty has fought the fight and won.

I have a proven record of fighting for our traditional values and the right to life. Now I need your support to defend those values in the White House, Pawlenty says in the pro-life mailer.

The mailer for the Republican presidential hopeful goes on to tout several of the former governor s long line of pro-life accomplishments as the two-term governor of the neighboring state.

The Woman s Right to Know Act was signed into law by Governor Pawlenty in his first year in office, the mailer explains. It requires informed consent and a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion. The law was the strongest informed consent law in the country at the time. he supported the law requiring parental notification before abortions may be performed on minors. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/pawlenty-focuses-on-pro-life-issues-in-mailer-to-iowa-voters/

Joy Behar Attacks Pro-Lifers for Only Caring About Unborn Kids
On Thursday s edition of The View on ABC, the panel discussed a suburban Pittsburgh restaurant McDain s Restaurant & Golf Center in Monroeville creating a policy to ban children under six from the property. The owner claimed E-mailers have run 11 to 1 in favor of the new ban.

But Joy Behar took this story as an opportunity to pounce on those pro-lifers for only being pro-child until birth: There seems to be a war against children going on. Except when they re in utero! Then everyone seems to care! Here s how it unfolded:

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: A Pittsburgh-area restaurant announced it s banning children six years and under from eating at their restaurant after repeated complaints from their older clientele.
S.E. CUPP: People wanted to clap, by the way. They tried to clap. [Applause]
JOY BEHAR:There seems to be a war against children going on. Except when they re in utero! Then everyone seems to care!
ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Good point.

Good point? At least Cupp made a face. Banning young children from a restaurant is much less of a war against children than what abortion providers do for a nice living. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/joy-behar-attacks-pro-lifers-for-only-caring-about-unborn-kids/

The Right Way to Talk About Casey Anthony and Abortion
In one of his recent broadcasts, Rush Limbaugh, while talking about the tragic Casey Anthony story, said this:. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/the-right-way-to-talk-about-casey-anthony-and-abortion/

Pro-Lifers to Protest Dangerous Pennsylvania Abortion Biz
On Saturday, local pro-life advocates plan a protest at the Allentown Medical Services center at 2200 Hamilton St, which recently failed an inspection by state health officials ensuring women are not put at risk. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/pro-lifers-to-protest-dangerous-pennsylvania-abortion-biz/

The New Republic Ignores Pro-Life History on Abortion
On Tuesday, Ramesh Ponnuru did a fine job refuting many of the arguments Christine Stansell made in her recent New Republic article about the politics of abortion. The New Republic sometimes offers interesting insights and commentary about the national political scene. However, Stansell s unhinged attack on the Susan B. Anthony List is something one would expect from a NOW or NARAL publication. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/the-new-republic-ignores-pro-life-history-on-abortion/

Russian President Medvedev Signs Pro-Life Bill on Abortion Risks
Russia has the first pro-life law the nation has passed since it fell under communist rule and the law is a reaction to the alarmingly high abortion rates the nation sees, which has sparked an underpopulation crisis. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/russian-president-medvedev-signs-pro-life-bill-on-abortion-risks/

Embryonic Stem Cell Trial Not Designed to Help Patients
Last year the FDA gave Geron approval to begin trials with cells derived from embryonic stem cells on patients with recent spinal cord injury. Now the second trial with embryonic stem cell derivatives has begun. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/15/embryonic-stem-cell-trial-not-designed-to-help-patients/
