House Bill Would Restore Mexico City Policy on Abortion
Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives are considering an appropriations bill that would, in part, restore the Mexico City Policy preventing the funding of groups that promote or perform abortions overseas.

The policy has been a central tenant of pro-life foreign policy during Republican administrations, but pro-abortion presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama both scrapped it during their first weeks in office. The policy, first named for a conference in Mexico City where pro-life President Ronald Reagan announced it, ensures taxpayer dollars don t flow through international family planning programs to organizations like the International Planned Parenthood Federation, which claims to have done in hundreds of thousands of abortions worldwide.

Planned Parenthood and the British-based Marie Stopes International refused to stop doing abortions or trying to get nations to abandon their pro-life culture and heritage and refused to follow the pro-life rules so they could accept the family planning funds during the Bush administration.

The measure the Foreign Affairs Committee is considering would reinstate the Mexico City Policy fully and, today, Republicans turned back an effort from Democrats to strike the language on a 25-17 vote.

While abortion advocates will likely float amendments on the House floor to strike the pro-life language, Republicans have enough votes to defeat them and approve the bill. However, the bill s fate in the Senate is much less certain and Democrats who control the Senate will not likely bring up the legislation and Obama would likely threaten to veto the bill even if it had the votes. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/house-bill-would-restore-mexico-city-policy-on-abortion/

Obama Admin Demands New Hampshire Restore Planned Parenthood $
The Obama administration is going after New Hampshire the same way it went after the state of Indiana following decisions in both states to strike taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Following a vote in New Hampshire to cancel a $1.8 million contract, a state health department official says the Obama administration sent the state a strongly-worded letter to complain. The Executive Council voted on June 22 to revoke the contract and that vote went into effect on July 1 making it so the abortion business is considering closing one or more of the six centers it runs in the Granite State that perform or refer for abortions.

Now, New Hampshire Health and Human Services Commissioner Nick Toumpas tells New Hampshire Public Radio that the Health and Human Services Department is claiming the state broke federal rules in denying the Planned Parenthood contract. He says HHS alleges that the state must provide family planning services to low-income women and that de-funding Planned Parenthood puts it at risk of losing federal funding by supposedly denying women access to family planning even though other alternatives are available from other agencies.

Toumpas told the radio station that the Obama administration demanded New Hampshire address the points raised in its letter by August 15 and he said he worries the state may lose federal Medicaid funding if it doesn t comply.

The focus is, how do we achieve statewide access and we do that as quickly as we can because there are a number of women who are out there right now that, beyond the family planning services, the bigger concern is that they re not getting some of the basic health services, Toumpas said. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/obama-admin-demands-new-hampshire-restore-planned-parenthood/

Former Abortion Business Worker Now a Pro-Life Stalwart
One of the most powerful weapons in the pro-life arsenal is the authentic testimony of those who have advocated for and helped provide abortions, and later seen the light. People like Dr. Bernard Nathanson, Carol Everett, and Abby Johnson have information and insight that will help us win the fight against the abortion industry.

Allentown, Pennsylvania native and mother of three Jewels Green has made the courageous decision to finally speak up for life. In her first public pro-life testimony, she tells Live Action about suffering the pain of abortion as a teenager and later spending several years working in an abortion clinic.

This is her story:

My first baby would be 22 this week. I was a 17-year-old drug-using high school drop-out, but when the lady wearing scrubs told me I was pregnant, I already thought of myself as a new mother. Everyone wanted me to get an abortion except me. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/former-abortion-business-worker-now-a-pro-life-stalwart/

Obama Admin: Fine Pro-Lifer $25,000 for Stepping on Shoe
The Obama administration is continuing to go after pro-life people who provide abortion alternatives information to women outside abortion facilities. They are going after one elderly man for stepping on a woman s shoe and breaking the strap.

Maryland resident Richard Retta has been accused of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act by doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights when he presents information to and talks to women considering abortions. For more than 10 years, he has helped women heading to the Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington abortion center find the kind of alternatives the abortion business never provides.

But the Justice Department s Civil Rights Division sees the gentle man as some sort of terrorist.

According to the Courthouse News Service, it has filed a lawsuit claiming Retta is one of the most vocal and aggressive anti-abortion protestors. How so? The Obama administration claims, On one occasion, defendant walked so closely to a patient that he stepped on the patient s shoe and broke the shoe strap.

Although the nicest pair of high heels may set someone back hundreds of dollars, the Obama administration is suing Retta for $10,000 for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, and is ordering him to pay compensatory damages of $5,000 each to three supposed victims of Retta handing out information and telling women to not have an abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/obama-admin-fine-pro-lifer-25000-for-stepping-on-shoe/

Pro-Abortion Vandals Attack Pro-Life Students for Life Website
Pro-abortion vandals recently attacked the web site of Students for Life of America, the national pro-life organization for college and university students. In fact, the vandals have repeatedly worked to destroy the SFLA outreach web site.

Just a few days ago, our highly effective pro-life site, AbolishAbortion.com, was hacked by a gang of pro-abortion activists, says Kristan Hawkins, the executive director for Students for Life. As a result, we lost critical data, petition sign-ups, graphics, and social network communications. This breach of security was intentional and it was very malicious.

This breach of security was a direct attack on the entire pro-life community; we cannot allow such dirty tricks to go unanswered, she said.

Hawkins says the attacks came because she suspects the abortion advocates know SFLA is successfully educating the next generation of leaders and saving lives as a result of its work. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/pro-abortion-vandals-attack-pro-life-students-for-life-website/

Abby Johnson: Am I Really Pro-Life on All Abortions? Yes!
I get asked this question a lot. Am I really pro-life? Am I against abortion in all circumstances? Yes. Do I believe there are any exceptions for abortion? No. Do you want to make abortion illegal? Yes.

But for me, it doesn t stop there. Being pro-life means standing up for ALL life valuing ALL life.

I am not one for labels, but in this case, I think they are important. I am pro-life. I believe in the protection of all life. I am against abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty. I am pro-quality of life. I believe all children deserve quality health care. I don t believe in reducing assistance benefits for those who are disabled or who have special needs. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/abby-johnson-am-i-really-pro-life-on-all-abortions-yes/

Abortion Backers Not Interested in Health, Safety of Women
Time and again, the pro-abortion movement engages in a collective attack on state legislators when new laws and regulations on abortions are passed around the country. Abortion proponents just can t seem to wrap their heads around the idea that Americans views on the issue of life are trending in our favor.

The most recent I can t believe this! moment occurred not long after the passage of new clinic regulations in Kansas. First, some background.

In 2010, an abortion doctor in Pennsylvania was found to have killed at least one patient, spread venereal diseases to countless others, preformed illegal late-term abortions, kept aborted baby parts in the same refrigerator where employees stored their lunches, and used infanticide as a measure for terminating pregnancies when he couldn t do so otherwise. He went 17 years unchecked by the state s health department because then-governor Tom Ridge felt the yearly health inspections of abortion clinics put up a barrier to women. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/abortion-backers-not-interested-in-health-safety-of-women/

Minnesota Now Paying Scientists to Engage in Human Cloning
The state of Minnesota is now paying scientists to engage in the grisly practice of human cloning. After the state legislature failed to re-authorize a ban on state funded human cloning during the special session, it is now legal to use taxpayer dollars to create cloned human embryos. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/21/minnesota-now-paying-scientists-to-engage-in-human-cloning/
