Reflection in Prayer

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Summer

“We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear CMMB Supporter,

The earthquake in Haiti, the tsunami in Japan, the tornadoes in Mississippi … We naturally ask, “Why does God allow this to happen, and where is God in all this!” Our faith challenges us to go deeper and says that God does not abandon us in our difficulties, but remains with us. Christianity does not promise the removal of evil from this world, but takes this twisted world into the mystery of Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. As the Scripture above states, God, in his providence, works to bring good out of what is painful and evil.

May the strength of God pilot us,
May the power of God preserve us,
May the wisdom of God instruct us,
May the hand of God protect us,
May the way of God direct us,
May the shield of God defend us,
May the angels of God guard us against the snares
of evil and the temptations of the world.
Amen.
