Top Pro-Abortion Activists to Headline Obama Fundraiser
Next month, some of the top pro-abortion activists will headline a fundraiser for the re-election campaign of pro-abortion President Barack Obama. The fundraiser is no surprise given the close relationships the president has maintained with them.

The fundraising will include First Lady Michelle Obama and, in her first appearance for Obama, pro-abortion activist Gloria Steinem. They will be joined at the fundraiser in New York City held at a Park Avenue location on September 20th along with Emily s List president Stephanie Schriock and Cecile Richards (see left), the president of the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the pro-abortion congresswoman Obama recently installed as the chair of the national Democratic Party, will also be on hand for the event, which the Huntington Post reports will have tickets starting at $500 and going on up to $38,500. Wasserman Schultz and Steinem, along with the Emily s List pro-abortion political action committee, supported Hillary Clinton over Obama during the 2008 Democratic primaries, but all three switched to Obama after Clinton lost to the former Illinois senator.

The event is geared towards women and mothers and daughters are encouraged to attend, though the liberal news web site indicates it is not a part of the official Women for Obama effort that is officially tied into Obama s re-election campaign. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/top-pro-abortion-activists-to-headline-obama-fundraiser/

Judge Orders Kansas to Send Tax Money to Planned Parenthood
In the latest skirmish in the battle between Kansas and Planned Parenthood, a judge has ordered the state to send taxpayer funds to the abortion business following complaints from it that it lost state public funding.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten ruled today that Kansas must fund the abortion business even though it did not cancel an contracts with the agency that were in effect at the time a new state provision went into place denying taxpayer funding via the family planning program to any agencies that do abortions.

Marten, in his ruling, also rejected the state s request to only give Planned Parenthood taxpayer money on a monthly basis while its lawsuit moves forward rather than in a quarterly lump sum covering three months. Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Western Missouri had complained earlier today that it would have to close its Hays, Kansas abortion referral clinic by Friday if the judge did not order the stand to fork over tax money to fund it.

The court finds no injury to the defendants in maintaining the prior payment schedule, as they will be providing funding in a manner consistent with prior practice between the parties, and to an organization which has consistently provided satisfactory family planning services, he wrote. Defendants shall resume funding in accordance with this order immediately and shall continue such funding until further order of this court or the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit modifying this order.

Earlier, Marten issued an injunction preventing the state from enforcing the law after Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri argued that it would suffer irreparable harm if the law was allowed to stand and that it would be forced to close one or more of its facilities because Kansas would direct hundreds of thousands of taxpayer funds to non-abortion medical clinics that provide the same services without also destroying the lives of women and unborn children in abortions. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/judge-orders-kansas-to-send-tax-money-to-planned-parenthood/

Time to Investigate Planned Parenthood for Sex Abuse Coverups
A thirteen-year-old girl let s call her Karen was an ordinary youngster who enjoyed playing soccer. But her life took an ugly turn when her soccer coach seduced her and got her pregnant. Without the knowledge of Karen s parents, the coach took Karen to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Ohio and paid for her abortion. Planned Parenthood staffers asked no questions, despite the fact that Karen was scarcely out of childhood.

The coach was later convicted of sexual battery and sent to prison. But as Americans United for Life recently observed, the story is indicative of how willing Planned Parenthood clinics are to be perfect partners to those who wish to sexually abuse and exploit young girls.

Americans United for Life recently published a report titled The Case for Investigating Planned Parenthood. It details the horror stories that have exploded in the news in recent years: Planned Parenthood employees assisting pimps and sex traffickers; misleading women about the dangers of abortion; refusing to comply with parental notification laws; and misusing millions in taxpayer dollars.

Worst of all is the evidence that Planned Parenthood fails to report child sex abuse. Instead, as Americans United for Life notes, Planned Parenthood clinics advise minors and their abusers on how to circumvent the mandatory reporting laws ; that is why Americans United for Life uses the term the perfect partners, as Planned Parenthood works with those who are actually using and exploiting young girls.

Americans United for Life recommends that Congress conduct a full-scale investigation of the abortion giant. I agree it s long overdue. But we should also ask ourselves why Planned Parenthood has become such a negative force. Well, it all comes down to worldview. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/time-to-investigate-planned-parenthood-for-sex-abuse-coverups/

Activist Judge Holds Up New Pro-Life Texas Ultrasound Law
The new law in Texas allowing women considering an abortion a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child beforehand is supposed to go into effect any day now, but that may not happen thanks to an activist judge.

The law is slated to take effect on Thursday, but abortion advocates filed a lawsuit seeking to stop it and the case could take years to sort out in court.

UDPDATE: U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks today issued an injunction in advance of the September 1 date the law is supposed to go into effect.

He ruled in a two-page order that parts of the state s new sonogram law are unconstitutional and prevented Texas officials from issuing any fines or penalties against abortion practitioners who do not follow the law while the lawsuit continues. He claimed Texas has no right to tell abortion practitioners they should allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of an abortion even though one is typically done to determine the age of the baby at the time of the abortion. Judge Sparks also claimed the law is supposedly vague and contradictory and makes it so abortion practitioners who think they are following the law could be running afoul of it. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/activist-judge-may-hold-up-new-pro-life-texas-ultrasound-law/

Perry Opens Up Big Leads Nationally, in South Carolina
Rick Perry, the pro-life Texas governor, has opened up big leads over his Republican presidential opponents both nationally and in South Carolina, the site of the third primary election battleground next year.

A new CNN poll featuring interviews with 1,017 adult Americans conducted by telephone by ORC International on August 24-25 shows Perry at 27 percent compared with Mitt Romney at 14 percent, Sarah Palin at 10 percent, and Michele Bachmann and Rudy Giuliani at 9 percent each. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul both pick up 6 percent in the survey.

Those numbers are an improvement for Perry, who entered the race on the same day Bachmann won the Iowa Straw Poll in Ames. A mid-August CNN poll showed Romney leading with 17 percent compared with 15% for Perry and 12 percent each for Palin, Giuliani, and Paul.

Both the current and mid-August polls have Herman Cain, Gary Johnson, Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman in low single digits.

The current poll, without Giuliani and Palin neither of whom appear likely to run has Perry at 32 percent, Romney at 18 percent, Bachmann at 12 percent, and all other candidates below the 10 percentage mark. Gingrich and Paul come next with 7 percent and 6 percent apiece. A total of 14 percent of Republicans don t have an opinion on a favorite candidate yet. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/perry-opens-up-big-leads-nationally-in-south-carolina/

The Unholy Alliance Between Some Adoption Agencies and Abortion
There are some things in life that are just painfully oxymoronic. Political correctness. Government transparency. NPR fairness. Bureaucratic efficiencies. And one of the examples most disturbing to me: pro-choice adoption agencies.

New York based Spence-Chapin is such an agency. Specializing in newborn adoptions, this pro-abortion adoption agency staunchly supports the nation s largest abortion chain. They agree with Planned Parenthood s warped philosophy that unintended equals unwanted equals unloved .Yet they place 66 children a year that are, according to Planned Parenthood, unwanted .

One can t dispel a myth by supporting the lie. Spence-Chapin recently launched an effort to try to claim the adoption mantle called the Adoption Access Network, a coalition of pro-abortion adoption agencies. Unlike Bethany Christian Services, the nation s largest adoption agency and champion of the belief that every life a promise , the Adoption Access Network gives death by abortion and the option of adoption the same moral equivalence. A child s chances of survival are just a lot better with agencies like Bethany that fully support life.

The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), too, operates in an unholy alliance of abortion and adoption. Despite the assertion that they exist to provide all children with a chance to thrive and success as part of a family , their advocacy of abortion prevents millions from being given any chance to live, let alone thrive. Linda Spears, CWLA s Vice President of Policy and Public Affairs, was directly asked about the glaring contradiction, and she responded: http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/the-unholy-alliance-between-some-adoption-agencies-and-abortion/

California City Council to Vote If Planned Parenthood Can Open
The city council in Redwood City, California, a town in the Bay Area, will have the final vote next month to determine if a new Planned Parenthood abortion business can open that doesn t have the required parking spaces.

Redwood City officials have already signed off on the new center, but the city s planning department sent a letter in July saying it has amended the permit issued allowing it to open the abortion business at 2890 El Camino Real. Planned Parenthood had initially obtained an agreement from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car company across the street for it to provide the center with the additional parking necessary to meet city requirements as the location only has 18 of the 27 spaces the city requires for the facility.

However, Enterprise is backing down thanks to a local protest organized by pro-life advocate Ross Foti, who says he and other pro-life residents informed Enterprise they would picket the company if it provided the spaces to Planned Parenthood. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/california-city-council-to-vote-if-planned-parenthood-can-open/

Pro-Life Gov. Susana Martinez Humbled by Vice-President Talk
Only part of the way through her first term as the new governor of New Mexico, Susana Martinez says she is humbled by speculation that she could find herself on the short list of potential Republican vice-presidential candidates. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/pro-life-gov-susana-martinez-humbled-by-vice-president-talk/

Planned Parenthood Opening New Iowa Abortion-Referral Center
The Planned Parenthood abortion business is opening a new center in Dubuque, Iowa that will refer women going there for abortions at its facilities elsewhere in the Hawkeye State. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/planned-parenthood-opening-new-iowa-abortion-referral-center/

Possible Treatment for Down Syndrome Raises Ethics Questions
My nephew Ethan s giggle is as contagious as any eight-year-old boy s laughter can be. It s unrestrained, beginning in his gut, spreading throughout his body and then overflowing into the house itself. Eventually the rooms echo not just with his glee but with the laughter of everybody around him. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/possible-treatment-for-down-syndrome-raises-ethics-questions/

Minnesota: Planned Parenthood Brings Abortion Drug to Rochester
The Planned Parenthood abortion business has expanded its use of the dangerous abortion drug in Minnesota, and it is now giving the pill that has killed dozens of women and injured more than 2,200 more to women in Rochester. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/30/minnesota-planned-parenthood-brings-abortion-drug-to-rochester/
