Supreme Court to Pick Obamacare Lawsuits Next Month
The Supreme Court will take its very first look at the lawsuits challenging Obamacare next month when members of the high court meet on November 10 to decide which, if any of the multiple cases it will consider.

The Obamacare law has come under strong opposition from pro-life groups because it fails to include provisions that would prevent taxpayer financing of abortions and because it prompts concerns about rationing health care for elderly and disabled people. Leading pro-life groups ranging from National Right to Life and Americans United for Life to the nation s Catholic bishops and the Family Research Council all opposed the bill because of their pro-life concerns.

Today, the SCOTUSblog broke the news about the Supreme Court taking its first look at the various legal challenges to the law.

Five of the six pending petitions (the sixth is not ready yet) were distributed to the Justices chambers on Wednesday, for consideration at that private session, it reported. Although a grant of review is not assured, that is highly likely, since all sides agree that the Court should take on the controversy, and the constitutionality of a key provision of the new law has been decided differently by federal appeals courts.

The high court is expected to announce the results of its preliminary look at the lawsuits by November 14, although it will not be rendering a decision. The announcement will merely indicate which of the lawsuit the Supreme Court will take. With some federal judges upholding the law and some striking it down in full or in part, the decision by the top court on which cases or cases it will take could point to the direction the court may go when it hands down a decision next summer. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/supreme-court-to-pick-obamacare-lawsuits-next-month/

NARAL Attacks Cain on Abortion, Condemns His Pro-Life View
Herman Cain may have caused some pro-life advocates to pause when the normally solidly pro-life Republican presidential candidate made some controversial remarks on abortion. But the pro-abortion activists at NARAL say they re still resolute in their opposition to Cain over his pro-life position.

Cain has advanced the pro-life cause throughout his political career but came under fire this past week when he gave an interview to CNN on Wednesday in which he used typical pro-choice language about government not making abortion decisions for women that applied, depending on the listener, to either abortions in the case of rape and incest or abortion policy in general. Either way, pro-life advocates have been disappointed following the comments and they have called on Cain to clarify the comments which he did in a short message on twitter later in the day saying he is 100% pro-life.

Cain, later Thursday, released a statementsaying he is fully pro-life, saying he will appoint the kind of judges who would be inclined to consider reversing Roe v. Wade, and adding that he opposes taxpayer funding of abortions or the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

He followed that up with a Fox News interview on Friday where he said he repeatedly that he wants abortions to be made illegal and he then told CBN s David Brody that he would support a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution to afford legal protection for the 1.2 million unborn children who die in abortions annually since the Roe v. Wade decision.

Now, NARAL president Nancy Keenan has released an open letter Cain saying she believes he is fully pro-life on abortion and condemns him for taking such a position. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/naral-attacks-cain-on-abortion-condemns-his-pro-life-view/

Abortion Biz Closes for the Day Thanks to 40 Days for Life
Just 11 days left in this 40 Days for Life campaign! For me, it s time for another road trip and it s a busy one. I m stopping in Allentown, Pennsylvania this morning to meet, pray and speak at a 40 Days for Life event in front of the abortion facility there. Tomorrow, I head west and Friday it s north WAY north to Calgary, Alberta.

As we head into the final quarter of the campaign, I want to challenge you to go to a 40 Days for Life vigil (if you haven t already). Nervous? A little scared? Well just go for it!

Everyone who overcomes the natural fear of doing this for the first time finds out one thing that works at an abortion facility PRAYER!

Here s what I mean. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/abortion-biz-closes-for-the-day-thanks-to-40-days-for-life/

Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Probe a Good First Step
The pre-trial hearing for the felony prosecution of Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri Kansas has been delayed for another 2 weeks because 23 Planned Parenthood-specific state abortion reports have been discovered as destroyed.

Judge Stephen Tatum granted the continuance due to the state s plea that only recently had they learned that crucial evidence for proving a forgery original copies of those state late-term abortion compliance reports from Planned Parenthood had been destroyed in 2005 by the state of Kansas Health department (KDHE) under Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Despite requests, the KDHE has not yet issued a public comment on this bombshell that it had actually destroyed selective documents.

Back in 2005, Sebelius was losing her fight to keep various subpoenaed state information relevant to illegal post viability abortions away from then-Attorney General Phill Kline. Kline had attained what s called probable cause that crimes had been committed and was seeking patient files. But he had also seen copies of these state compliance reports which bore no patient names but were important because they had been filed with bogus language where legitimate medical reasons were supposed to have been supplied. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/planned-parenthood-abortion-biz-probe-a-good-first-step/

Down Syndrome Kid Inspires With I Survived Abortion Sign
A new photo of a young boy holding a sign talking about how he survived abortion as one of the 10 percent of Down syndrome children not victimized by abortion before birth has gone viral on Facebook today.

The photo has received thousands of shares and likes and is inspiring pro-life people across the world, including Josh Mercer of CatholicVote.

This powerful message is making its way around Facebook, he said after viewing the photo. When I speak with friends who have a child with Down Syndrome, unfailingly they all say how much joy their child brings into their life. It makes me feel ashamed to live in a country that chooses death instead of life for 90% of babies who are diagnosed with Down Syndrome. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/down-syndrome-kid-inspires-with-i-survived-abortion-sign/

College Students Given 200K Copies of Pro-Life Movie 180
More than one thousand pro-life advocates gave away more than 200,000 copies of the new pro-life documentary 180, the movie that has taken the nation by story with its 33-minute presentation on abortion.

The pro-life film has already eclipsed 1.2 million views on YouTube as pro-life advocates are relying on the documentary to change public opinion and move it towards the pro-life perspective. The film shows evangelist Ray Comfort changing the minds of hardened abortion backers by drawing comparisons between abortion and the treatment of Jews by Nazi Germany.

The volunteers passed out the DVD copy of the film to students at 100 of the most influential college and university campuses in the United States. To avoid opposition, the day and the location of each of the universities were a highly-guarded secret.

People can t get enough of this because it s changing minds about the hot-button issue of abortion, the film s producer, Ray Comfort, said. It s not only being watched on line, people are buying it to give away. We have sold more than 150,000 copies in a matter of weeks. One small church purchased 16,800. But this week s university giveaway was very special, because it put the physical DVD into the hands of the youth of America, and engaged many in healthy dialogue. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/college-students-given-200k-copies-of-pro-life-movie-180/

UNFPA s 7 Billion Population Graphs Completely Erroneous
In the run up to its ominously entitled Day of Seven Billion, the United Nations Population Fund has released a preview of its State of World Population Report 2011.

The preview opens with a graph of population over time that seems to show the world s population climbing ever higher in the decades to come. In fact, the scaling suggests to the eye that the number of people will more than double by century s end.

The trouble with this graph is that it is, to put it bluntly, an absolute fabrication. It is designed, I believe, to create the impression that human numbers are spinning out of control. It is a population bomb graph, if you will.

No demographer that I know of believes that our numbers will ever double again. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/unfpas-7-billion-population-graphs-completely-erroneous/

Setting the Record Straight in the Father Pavone Dispute
For over a month now, a tremendous amount of misinformation has been spread across the country about Father Frank Pavone and Priests for Life. In the interest of fairness, the editors have offered us the opportunity to set the record straight and we thank them. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/setting-the-record-straight-in-the-father-pavone-dispute/

Proof: Laws Regulating Abortion Facilities Stop Abortions
In the years following the Roe v. Wade decision, most legislative efforts to prevent abortions have been demand-side strategies. In short pro-lifers have attempted to pass legislation to either discourage pregnant women from obtaining abortions or raise the costs of obtaining an abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/proof-laws-regulating-abortion-facilities-stop-abortions/

Seattle Hospital Faces Pressure to Do Abortions After Merger
An abortion/medical conscience controversy is riling the decidedly pro choice state of Washington, presaging what I think will become one of our own most contentious bioethical controversies. The issue involves the existence and extent of conscience rights for medical professionals and facilities opposed to participating in interventions that take human life. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/seattle-hospital-faces-pressure-to-do-abortions-after-merger/

Eastern Europe Sees Growing Pro-Life Effort Against Abortion
In a previously recorded interview that aired on October 22, 2011, Joseph Meaney, director of international coordination at Human Life International (HLI), spoke to EWTN s Celtic Connections radio program about recent updates on the pro-life front in Eastern Europe. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/eastern-europe-sees-growing-pro-life-effort-against-abortion/

Quebec Government May Promote Euthanasia as Medical Treatment
The Canadian Press (CP) has reported that the Quebec government assisted suicide committee will likely promote increases in support for palliative care and for the training of doctors, and I assume medical professionals, who are caring for the dying. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/26/quebec-government-may-promote-euthanasia-as-medical-treatment/
