Manic Disdain for Our Fellow Man

Today's news abounds with stories of apathy or outright disdain for our fellow human beings-whether born or preborn. The prevailing thought seems to be that, if these humans don't meet the "right" criteria for how a life should be led, that life is somehow less valuable. Many people fail to understand that no life is more valuable than any other. A report on the sexual behavior of U.S. teenagers shows that despite an increase in condom use, teen pregnancy has not decreased and two prominent sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise.  "The so-called 'safe sex' campaign has failed our kids drastically," Leslee Unruh, founder of National Abstinence Clearinghouse, told EWTN News Nov. 21.

A new study published by scientists who examined diabetes mellitus type 2, reproductive factors, and breast cancer found a statistically significant association showing a 2.86-fold increased breast cancer risk from one induced abortion. The study, published in Taylor & Francis, also found that delaying a first full-term pregnancy, which is frequently done by women having abortions, also raises the breast cancer risk whereas giving birth resulted in a 64% reduced risk.
