Obamacare Awarded Grants to Now-Defunct Embryonic Research
In my previous post I detailed how devastating it is to the embryonic stem cell industry that Geron Corporation has abruptly abandoned it. Now only one other U.S. company, Advanced Cell Technology, is running a clinical trial using embryonic stem cells with the hope of a commercial payoff.

Private investors are avoiding embryonic stem cell research because 1) it s controversial; 2) it s risky there is no guaranteed pay-off, certainly not in the short term; 3) noncontroversial adult stem cells (iPS) with the same chameleon nature as embryonic stem cells have been recently discovered; and 4) adult stem cell research and treatments are reaping phenomenal new results almost on a daily basis.

Particularly after Geron s departure, embryonic stem cell research appears salvageable only if financed by taxpayers. The Obama administration has already shown it is perfectly willing to invest the people s money in commercial ventures that are not financially sound but suit his liberal ideology. Think Solyndra. And then think Geron.

Last year under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project included in Obamacare, Geron was awarded five cash grants totaling $1.2 million. Three of those grants, valued at $735,000 altogether, were for embryonic stem cell research. Advanced Cell Technology was awarded four grants totaling $980,000, two for embryonic stem cell research, valued at $490,000 altogether. Both received the maximum amount allowed. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/obamacare-awarded-grants-to-now-defunct-embryonic-research/

Steve Jobs Was Glad He Didn t Become a Victim of Abortion
A new biography of Apple founder Steve Jobs indicates the businesses visionary was glad he did not become a victim of abortion.

The new quotes from Jobs follow on numerous columns pro-life advocates have written saying that they were glad Jobs was spared from abortion via adoption and wishing other children had been given a similar positive fate.

Biographer Walter Isaacson unveiled more about Steve Jobs life in a new book which recounts interviews with family, friends and other people influential in Jobs life. The book reveals some of the fear of abandonment that prompted Jobs to ultimately form a strong bond with his sister, author Mona Simpson, but he eventually refused to be reconciled with his biological father despite feeling a sense of loss for not knowing him.

Still, Jobs put everything into perspective when he said his biological parents could have subjected him to an abortion, and explained to Isaacson why he wanted to find his biological mother. When he finally met birth mother Joanne Schieble, she burst into tears as she apologized for placing him for adoption.

I wanted to meet [her] mostly to see if she was OK and to thank her, because I m glad I didn t end up as an abortion, he said. She was 23 and she went through a lot to have me. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/steve-jobs-was-glad-he-didnt-become-a-victim-of-abortion/

Truly Stellar! Heaven-sent: Pope Benedict's international Ethical Stem Cell Conference! Christian Drapeau was there! With age, stress and/or Trisomy21, an inborn error of metabolism, comes premature cell-death. His StemEnhance, the super+AFA+food mobilizes one's OWN stem(master)cell-proliferation from one's OWN bone marrow!

Sarah Palin Gives Moving Thanksgiving Tribute to Her Son Trig
Sarah Palin and her son Trig, who has Down syndrome, have become celebrated within the pro-life movement. As a national pro-life political figure, Palin has received kudos for giving birth to Trig at a time when more than 90 percent of Down syndrome children are killed in abortions.

Palin herself has talked about how she could understand women who may feel compelled to have an abortion in such a circumstances, but said her unshakable faith in God allows her, her husband Todd, and her family to provide Trig with all the love and support he needs to live a happy and productive life.

Yesterday, Palin sent CBN reporter David Brody some personal Thanksgiving reflections in which she talks movingly about Trig. Brody describes it as a heartfelt letter that gives God all the glory and adds, Palin is showing that while there are some people who just talk the talk when it comes to being pro-life she actually walks the walk too. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/sarah-palin-gives-moving-thanksgiving-tribute-to-her-son-trig/

Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger: Agents of Death
According to its website, for more than 90 years, Planned Parenthood has promoted a commonsense approach to women s health and well-being, based on respect for each individual s right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning.

There is in this glowing self-endorsement a subtle tribute to Planned Parenthood s founder Margaret Sanger. An unabashed eugenicist, Ms. Sanger s commonsense approach to unwanted pregnancies and undesirable demographic groups, such as minorities and the handicapped, was clear and unambiguous. She maintained that the most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it, and that birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.

Sanger would, no doubt, be proud of the legacy begotten by her monstrous ideology. Planned Parenthood is by far the largest abortion provider in the United States. In 2009, surgical abortions accounted for 97.6% of their services to pregnant women. In other words, Planned Parenthood has become a euphemism for the abortion business yields big bucks. It might tout itself as a commonsense organization that provides a wide array of family planning services, but the truth is in the statistics. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/planned-parenthood-and-margaret-sanger-agents-of-death/

Man Accuses Ex-Girlfriend of Stealing Sperm, Making Twins
A new and unusual criminal case out of Houston, Texas highlights some of the problems with the fertility industry shown in a new video that is getting attention within pro-life circles.

In this case, a Texas man is upset his former girlfriend stole his sperm and used it to produce two twins via in-vitro fertilization without his permission. The man says he had no idea what happened until he received a receipt from the fertility clinic addressed to him.

From the story:

Joe Pressil, 36, said he discovered his former girlfriend s action when he received a receipt in the mail from a fertility clinic indicating himself as the patient, KPRC-TV, Houston, reported.

Actually, I couldn t believe it could be done. I was very, very devastated. I couldn t believe that this fertility clinic could actually do this without my consent, or without my even being there, Pressil said, adding artificial insemination is against his religious beliefs. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/man-accuses-ex-girlfriend-of-stealing-sperm-making-twins/

Family of Woman Killed by Gosnell Failed Abortion Sues City
The family of a woman killed by infamous abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell in a failed abortion has filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Philadelphia saying the city s health department failed to monitor Gosnell.

Gosnell, his wife, and staff members face various charges including eight charges for killing a patient in a botched abortion and killing unborn children in the brutal infanticides that saw him stick medical scissors into the backs of unborn children purposefully induced prematurely so he could snip their spinal cords and take their lives. They also face charges ranging from murder to obstructing justice to practicing medicine without a license.

The grand jury released a 261-page report which said the 69-year-old abortion practitioner and his staff killed hundreds of babies in this manner and killed at least two women and injured many more in failed abortions. Gosnell became known in Philadelphia and the Atlantic region as the guy women should go to if they wanted a late-term abortion illegal in most states.

One of the abortion deaths involves the botched abortion death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, who died at Gosnell s abortion clinic after a failed abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/25/family-of-woman-killed-by-gosnell-failed-abortion-sues-city/

Planned Parenthood Gives Tips to Promote Abortion at Thanksgiving
The New York affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business is giving out tips today for its supporters in terms of how they can push abortion on their guests at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
