Cooking the Books, Disparaging Catholics   By Judie Brown                   News reports that circulate the statistic that 98 percent of Catholics use contraception have been generating quite a bit of discussion. People want to believe what they read in the papers. They see that this number was found as the result of a study, and that gives more credence to the result. But can we believe everything we read? Is the study even scientifically valid? As we see in today's commentary, it is not wise to believe everything you read. You must always search for the truth. Read further to learn why this is so.  [Click here to read more.]                                                HEADLINES 100% of Catholic Bishops oppose Obama's Contraceptive Mandate CNS News; All 181 Catholic bishops in the United States oppose and have publicly denounced a regulation issued by the Obama administration that would require every health insurer to offer contraceptives, including those that induce abortion, free of charge. The bishops oppose the mandate because, they argue, it is a violation of religious liberty under the First Amendment - in this case, the federal government forcing individual Catholics to subsidize products and services that are contrary to their religious beliefs. No charges against Sebelius admin in destruction of Planned Parenthood documents Life Site News Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor issued a statement Friday saying that there would be no criminal charges filed against Sebelius-era appointees in the destruction of critical evidence in a massive criminal case against Planned Parenthood. This statement raised eyebrows and even more questions about the dubious handling of the Planned Parenthood criminal case under the administration of former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who now serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services. At issue: Planned Parenthood's illegal gov't funding One News Now Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is asking a federal court to order the Obama administration to turn over records involved in bypassing the New Hampshire government and providing direct funding to Planned Parenthood. A state health agency had voted against providing tax dollars to Planned Parenthood of Northern England, deciding instead to send it to groups that do not provide abortions. Regardless, the Obama administration decided within five days to send the $1-million check to the abortion provider. After 100 days of investigating, ADF has not been able to obtain any more information; hence, the lawsuit.
