The planning commission on Wednesday night denied a request aimed at stopping Planned Parenthood from coming to Victorville, [CA] though Mayor Ryan McEachron filed the appeal and hundreds of residents turned up to protest the project. Planned Parenthood plans to open its first health center in the Victor Valley by the end of the year on Park Avenue, next to the Coco's Bakery. The site was built in the '80s to house Chuck E. Cheese's and was last used in 2006 as a furniture store.

Actress Ashley Judd----a familiar celebrity face around town during Indianapolis 500 festivities----will return in December for Planned Parenthood of Indiana's 80th anniversary celebration. Judd, who is vocal about her support of the organization, has signed on as the keynote speaker of the Dec. 1 event, which will take place in Downtown Indianapolis. Planned Parenthood officials said that Judd's name came to the top of the list of possible speakers, which included actress Susan Sarandon, during a meeting.
