PHILADELPHIA, Pa., October 23, 2012 / -- The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network is pleased to announce the establishment of the Center for Disability in the Public Square (CDPS) to be directed by Mark P. Mostert, PhD.

Dr. Mostert, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, joins the Center with 25 years of academic experience on disability issues and as President of Disability Consultants International.

The mission of the CDPS is to engage, educate, and enable people with medical and other disabilities, their supporters, and the general public to embrace and act on a culture of life both nationally and internationally.

“Terri’s Life & Hope Network receives desperate calls from families of loved ones because they are being asked to make medical decisions without all the relevant information needed to err on the side of life,” stated Dr. Mostert. “The Center for Disability in the Public Square will serve as a resource to provide this much-needed information to families in their times of need.”

CDPS will be executed via four key concentrations:
To develop comprehensive databases of evidence around major bioethical and related topics.
To establish data-driven arguments to counter pro-death perspectives.
To develop distribution networks of educational materials via multiple outlets.
To share information and educate at the international level.
“Terri’s Life & Hope Network is very excited to have Dr. Mostert as part of our organization,” stated Executive Director, Bobby Schindler. “His expertise and leadership on the disability issue will only enhance and strengthen Terri’s Life & Hope mission and objective to help protect our medically vulnerable.”
