CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 6/30/2013

Weekly prayer reflection for Summer
“You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence; rather, serve one another through love.”
Galatians 5:13 June 30, 2013
13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends,
In a very special way, citizens of the United States are called to freedom. In a few days we will celebrate that freedom and independence with the 4th of July weekend. We dare not take this freedom for granted. Glancing through newspapers will remind us of how many people live without freedom of religion, without legal systems that work for justice, and without opportunities for work and development. We have been blessed. St. Paul challenges us to use our freedom to share and to serve one another through love. As Catholics pray on July 4th, the message and good news of Jesus Christ “lives on in our midst as our task for today and a promise for tomorrow.”
Father of all nations and ages, we recall the day when our country claimed its place among the family of nations; for what has been achieved we give You thanks, for the work that still remains we ask Your help…Grant that under Your providence our country may share Your blessings with all the peoples of the earth. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
