Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends for Life,
Action Alert: ALL study confirms Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding ineffective and counterproductive

A new American Life League five-part study shows that the abortion giant's insistence that it is focused on increasing healthcare services to women is bogus:

- Its "healthcare services" are declining dramatically.
- Its number of facilities for delivery of "healthcare" is declining.
- Its abortion facility numbers are increasing.
- Planned Parenthood is stacking up taxpayer money at a phenomenal rate. Combined profits for 2009-2012 are $324.8 million!
- Its salacious sex education, promotion of contraceptive sex, and abortion-ready backup to eradicate babies is not needed to decrease the teen pregnancy rate. In fact, our study shows that, when Planned Parenthood left the Texas Panhandle, teen pregnancy rates declined dramatically.
- The average salary of Planned Parenthood affiliates' CEOs is three times higher than the salary of the average American household.

Not an essential healthcare provider: Planned Parenthood is not an essential healthcare provider. It is a sex business that preys on our young people. Yet it is the illusion of "essential healthcare provider" that enables the abortion giant to grow exponentially fatter on taxpayer money and become fiercely politically powerful as it plays politics with the lives of millions of Americans that hang in the balance.

God Bless,

ITEM #1: 95% of Women Having Abortions: Planned Parenthood Told Me Nothing About My Baby

David C Reardon conducted one of the most extensive interviews of postabortion women ever done. He asked them questions about their abortion experiences. The women he interviewed were involved in pro-life ministries that help postabortion women, and most of them, at some level at least, regretted their abortions. Here are the ways that many of the women answered his questions.

ITEM #2:
Archbishop Chaput: Right to Life is Still the Foundational Human Right

But when we revoke legal protection for unborn children - when we accept the intimate violence abortion inflicts both on women and their unborn children; when we license and sacralize abortion as part of what Pope Francis calls a "throw away culture" - we violate the first and most important human right, the right to life itself. And once we do that, and then create a system of alibis to justify it, we begin to put every other human and civil right at risk.
****************************************

ITEM #3: Creation of Human Embryos With Three Parents Facing Massive Opposition

People from all sides are voicing their concerns about the ethics and safety of this technique where a donor egg's nucleus is removed and replaced with the nucleus of a woman with mitochondrial disease. That genetically-engineered egg is then fertilized with sperm creating an embryo that has genetic material from three persons, the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from the donor, and nuclear DNA contributed by the parents.

****************************************

ITEM #4: The public debate about pornography, like most, lacks any Christian angle

It's hard to argue some moral points without a thelogical explanation.
****************************************

ITEM #5: Where are the fathers? We need them

Talk of how fatherlessness contributes to community violence is a non-starter in some circles. Still, there is growing clarity on the role fathers play in child development.
****************************************
ITEM #6: Cardinal rebukes culture of death as Peru considers abortion, homosexual legislation
In the midst of a raging debate over abortion and same-sex unions, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani of Lima has exhorted Peruvians in a recent homily not to "allow the world to play at destroying families."

****************************************

ITEM #7 Pornography Addiction a Growing Problem Among Women
Those are the opening paragraphs of a story from The Guardian called "Why More and More Women Are Using Pornography." Revelations of female porn addiction are an eye-opening issue. Most people assume the problem is exclusive to testosterone-driven men. But a new study reveals that women are struggling with graphic sexual immorality in droves.
****************************************

ITEM #8: More on Belgium's spectacular leap off the moral cliff
This is the horrific logic of euthanasia: Once killing is accepted as an answer to human difficulty and suffering, the power of sheer logic dictates that there is no bottom.
****************************************

ITEM #9: Rape and Abortion

As a woman, I can hardly imagine a more violent action against a woman than rape. Not only is a rape physically violent, but because this act involves an attack against the deepest, life-bearing part of our psyche, the violence is also psychological and spiritual. Every fiber of our being shouts out the perversion of the event, and we long to help the woman who has been so violated. We want to undo the rape. But nothing we can do will make her "un-raped". The reality is that we can only do our best to help her to heal from the horror.
****************************************
ITEM #10: The Psychology of Rape

Rape is a topic that is always viewed as very difficult to address, presumably because it deals with complex psychological problems and because it involves sensitive sexual issues. However, those who support abortion rights argue that abortion provides a necessary benefit to the woman, who is pregnant as a result of rape. This discussion on the psychological aspects of rape will challenge this assumption.

****************************************
ITEM #11: Junk Science In, Junk Prolife Out
Junk in, junk out, as they say. How many "pre-embryo substitutes" can you find in the "pro-life" article below that is addressing only life "in the womb" (and even then possibly only some of that time)? Let me count the ways.
****************************************
ITEM #12: Call it Human Trafficking or Human Junking - The Result Is the Same
Not only are some people content with stealing the lives of preborn babies for their own selfish ways, but now there is a growing trend of stealing children's organs so that others may buy them. This sick practice shows just how depraved society can be when it comes to our fellow human beings.
