UNIONVILLE, Ontario, Canada, Dec. 3, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- 'Baby-boomers' know Thalidomide caused ~10,000 badly birth defected babies (1957-1962) in Europe & England; see pictures here.

"Complications: Abortion's Impact on Women" (NEW deVeber Institute's book) startling estimate: 15,000 tiny babies yearly have CP (Cerebral Palsy) due to mothers' prior IAs (Induced Abortions): (www.deveber.org/complications) Is 15,000 needless CP cases worldwide "scare-mongering?"

In an October 2007 peer-reviewed study (still unchallenged) Dr. Byron Calhoun, Dr. Elizabeth Shadigian, and Brent Rooney estimated these U.S. 2002-statistics due to prior abortions:
  • 1,096 CP cases for newborns under 1,500 grams

  • 4,094 Deaths for babies (under 32 weeks' gestation) in their first 12-months
Abstract: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=calhoun%20shadigian%20rooney

America's ~1.2 million yearly abortion total is only 3% of 40 million IAs worldwide; 15,000 excess Cerebral Palsy cases yearly is a very conservative estimate; 60,000 infant deaths (baby's first 12-months) caused by prior IAs is a very conservative estimate. Yearly CP cases plus infant deaths equals 75,000 , 7.5 times Thalidomide's 6-year 10,000 total; 75,000 victims in only one year!

  • Induced abortions 1,044,000 (CP cases + Infant Deaths)

Important CP cause

Accepted for 5 decades: the more premature a baby, the higher his/her CP & infant death risk. In 2009 via 2 'study-of-studies' it became SETTLED-SCIENCE that prior Induced Abortions raise 'preemie' risk; Dr. Prakesh Shah's 'study-of-studies' in the prestigious British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology:
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1471-0528.2009.02278.x/pdf

Dr. Shah (University of Toronto), never an abortion-opponent, strongly advocates Informed-Medical-Consent, including 'abortion-preemie' warnings.

Brain damage causes CP, an injury less visible than Thalidomide injuries; (pictures.)

Moms' prior abortions also raise children's Autism risk:

Black-American-Women, with ~40% of U.S. abortions, shoulder a HEAVY Cerebral Palsy burden; kff.org/womens-health-policy/state-indicator/abortions-by-race
About 419 CP cases yearly in Black-American-Infants are caused by prior induced abortions, plus 1,564 wanted but dead infants (in first 12-months of life); total yearly Black-American-victim-count = 1,983, five times the Tuskegee experiment's 40-year total (399). 'Obama-Care-funded-abortions' wreak health-havoc: killed Black-American babies and Latino-American babies, crippled infants, more women with breast cancer. Brent Rooney & colleague's 2008 study demonstrated that abortions exacerbate Black-American-Women's preemie risk: www.jpands.org/vol13no4/rooney.pdf.

Higher 'preemie' risks include Autism, blindness, deafness, respiratory distress, gastrointestinal injury, serious infections.

Bottom-Line

Total damage (CP-crippled kids + (wanted-but-dead-babies)) caused by prior IAs exceeds 100 times Thalidomide's carnage.
